The Stroppel Hotel and Mineral Baths

Welcome to the Historic Stroppel Hotel and Mineral Baths, Midland, South Dakota

In 1939 John Stroppel dug a well 1,780 feet down to reach the 119 degree mineral-rich water.  The hotel and plunges have a long-history of healing and relaxation.  Wallace and Laurie wish to continue this tradition and share Midland, South Dakota's natural resources.   Our rustic hotel is inviting to generations of hunters, workers, and travelers seeking the healing touch of our uniquely composed mineral waters.  

We have five rooms with an ensuite bathroom whose shower and toilets utilize the geothermal mineral waters.  We have six rooms that utilize one of our four common/shared toilet and sinks and a shower situated in the middle plunge utilizing the mineral waters. All are clean and welcoming.  We have a recreation room that contains comfortable chairs, a dining area, and a 64" Smart TV.  We have a microwave on each floor for our guests convenience.

We are worth the 14-mile trip off I-90 exit 170.  Turn at 1880 town and head north.  We are located at 602 Main, Midland, South Dakota.  

The plunges are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with "last call" at 8:30 p.m. 

**Winter Off-Season Hours December to May  might very; calling before arrival is advised.  We have gone to an on-call system; please call we are never far away.  

A good 'ole fashion plunge is $15.00 for a maximum of thirty minutes.

Room rates include ONE free plunge a day.   The Wellness Retreats will allow for unlimited plunges.

Social Pets welcome with a $20 a night Fee- All animals must be potty trained and socially friendly and preferably de-sexed.  Hotel Heidi, a yellow lab,  says this is her domain.

Rooms:

               On-line reservations and their promo discounts codes must be made 48-hr in advanced. 

               Advanced phone reservations for arrival less than 48 hours must be made before 5 p.m.  The rooms must be paid for at the time of making the reservation, no refunds.  Estimated time of arrival must be given $15  late for arrivals after 9 p.m. 

               No Walk-ins for rooms after 7 p.m.

EXEPTIONS made for storms and natural disasters to ensure travelers are off the roads.

               Advanced notification is encouraged.  Be prepared to call on-call if notification is not given.
